CELSI Frontiers Seminar: Gender and Labour. Lessons, Challenges, Limitations
Dec. 13, 2024
At the last CELSI Frontiers Seminar this year, the CELSI team discussed the topic of Gender Equality and Labour.
On Thursday, December 12, CELSI researchers Barbora Holubová and Kristína Gotthardová gave a lecture on the broader picture of gender in connection to work.
They explained overall approaches to the topic, unpaid work and its influence on GDP, work-life balance policies and their effects on women’s and men’s labour market participation, and explored the measurement of the Gender Pay Gap.
They also compared women’s and men’s participation in paid and unpaid work, examined the development of gender-based violence, focused on the green transition and the influence of AI technologies on gender equality.
Finally, they presented one of CELSI’s latest research projects on "Sexual Harassment in the Workplace," highlighting key findings from a case study on Slovakia.
During the event, the CELSI team discussed the challenges and limitations of the methodology as well as the relevance of the gender research for CELSI’s future work and for academic and public debate in Slovakia.
